The Expedition

The County’s Farthest
Cart Community

Borrego Springs is where San Diego County’s cart culture goes full desert: an Anza-Borrego valley town where the Roadrunner Club and De Anza Country Club were built around cart life, Rams Hill runs its championship course, and the nearest freeway is a mountain range away. Getting a golf cart there — or out — is a genuine expedition: roughly two hours from coastal San Diego on two-lane county highways, finishing with the S-22 Montezuma Grade’s ~3,000-foot switchback descent to the valley floor. We make that run on a schedule, with the cart frame-strapped to our own flatbed behind commercial brakes, because the alternative — a borrowed trailer on that grade, in that heat, with a driver who has not done it before — is where cart-moving stories go wrong.

The valley’s rhythm is seasonal and so is its cart logistics. October through May, Borrego lives: courses full, Christmas Circle busy, carts everywhere on the communities’ streets. Then summer arrives at 110°F+ and the town exhales — and batteries left cooking in carports pay for it. The bookings below all flow from that calendar.

Standing seasonal rotations — same cart, both legs, every year — book once and repeat. Ask when you call.

Remote handoff is the valley norm: half our Borrego pickups happen while the owner is already in Portland or Minneapolis for the summer. Key with the community office or a neighbor, condition photos at collection, storage or delivery confirmation to your phone — the same verified-remote process our storage moves run county-wide.

The Routes

West To The Coast,
East To Arizona

Borrego sits on a hinge between two cart economies. West: coastal San Diego — estate carts to buyers, seasonal rotations, family hand-me-downs into Rancho Bernardo and the North County communities. East: the Arizona snowbird corridor — heirs and second homes in Phoenix and Tucson, served by out-of-state shipping whose I-8 lane practically brushes the valley. Household moves in and out of the valley pair with either lane; the cart simply shares the truck.

FAQ

Borrego Springs Cart
Questions

Do you really transport golf carts to Borrego Springs? +
Yes — it’s the longest regular cart run we make: roughly two hours from coastal San Diego on two-lane county highways into the Anza-Borrego desert. Roadrunner Club, De Anza Country Club, and Rams Hill deliveries are all established stops. The distance is exactly why the run is scheduled rather than improvised — and why we schedule the run rather than improvise it.
Why not just tow the cart out ourselves? +
Montezuma Grade. The S-22 approach descends roughly 3,000 feet of switchbacks into the valley — a hard test of trailer brakes and tow experience — and the desert route’s heat is brutal on an exposed cart. On our deck the cart does the grade strapped at four frame points, behind commercial brakes, with a driver who runs it regularly.
Can the cart come to the coast for the summer? +
That’s the signature Borrego booking: the seasonal rotation. Cart out of the desert in late spring (110°F+ summers are battery killers), into coastal storage or a family garage, back before the season opens in fall. Both legs, one arrangement, standing schedule available.
Do you coordinate with Roadrunner Club and De Anza? +
Yes — community office notice, delivery windows, and space-side drop-off are part of the booking at both, and at Rams Hill. Snowbird owners who aren’t in the valley yet hand off keys remotely; photos confirm every step.
Does desert heat change battery prep? +
Materially — heat is the battery’s real enemy in Borrego. Summer-over carts need shade, ventilation, and correct state of charge (lead-acid full with top-ups; lithium at 50–80%, disconnect off). The full desert-specific guidance is in our battery guide.
Can you bring a cart from Borrego to a buyer on the coast? +
Yes — desert estate sales and downsizing send carts west constantly. We collect with remote key handoff, document condition, and deliver anywhere in the county — or hand off to out-of-state shipping for Arizona-bound heirs, whose corridor passes practically by the valley.
