What Does A Move
In Vista Cost?

Most homes in Vista take three movers rather than two. Our ladder starts at $119 an hour cash for two movers and $169 for three, with a three hour minimum of $357 or $507 and a flat $75 fuel fee, and runs to $269 an hour cash for five movers when a job genuinely needs the extra hands. No deposit, ever.

Knowing an address like Shadowridge Community or Vista Village Apartments before the day is what lets a crew arrive with the parking and the access already worked out, rather than solving it on your clock. Full rate card and instant estimate (about 30 seconds).

Vista Water and Trash Before Move Day

If your new address is served by the Vista Irrigation District, the district asks you to complete its start/stop water service authorization form rather than calling on move day. The district does not back-date service changes. A request submitted before 4:30 pm Monday through Friday is scheduled for the next business day, and one submitted after 4:30 pm is scheduled within 48 hours. Same-day, weekend, and holiday changes are not offered, so a Saturday move needs the water request filed during the week before.

Questions about a new account go to the district's customer service line at (760) 597-3100, which is staffed Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, or to its office at 1391 Engineer Street, Vista, CA 92081. Have the service address and the date you want water in your name ready when you submit. If you are leaving a Vista home, the same form handles the stop date, and the same next-business-day rule applies, so file both requests at once and keep the confirmation with your moving paperwork.

Trash, recycling, and organics inside the city limits are collected by EDCO under contract with the City of Vista, and EDCO's City of Vista site has a start-or-stop-service option for new accounts. Residential service is a weekly pickup of household trash, organics, and recyclables, and each single-family customer receives a cart for trash.

Bulky Items and the Hourly Clock

EDCO's Vista service includes a bulky item pickup for large items generated inside your home, which is the practical route for the couch or mattress you have decided not to move. You schedule the pickup with EDCO, set the item at the curb or the end of your driveway on the appointed day, and a separate bulky-item truck collects it. Booking it for the days before the move means the crew loads only what is actually going to the new house.

That matters on an hourly move because every item carried is time on the clock. Our guide times of three to four hours for a studio or one-bedroom, four to five for a two-bedroom, five to seven for a three-bedroom, and six to eight for a four-bedroom describe a home whose give-away pile has already left. A garage of furniture that was meant for donation adds carries and truck space in the same way a bedroom does, so sorting it out before the crew arrives saves crew time on the day.

Street Parking and Citations in Vista

In Vista, the city's Code Enforcement division enforces both State and City parking regulations and processes every parking citation issued within the city, and its parking enforcement listing gives 760-639-1641 as the number to call. That is the office to ask about a curb you are unsure of or a citation that turns up on a car parked to save space for the truck. The moving truck itself is our responsibility, and the crew positions it where it is legal to stand for the length of the load.

What helps before the day is a plain description of the curb in front of the house: how many car lengths are open, whether there is a hydrant or red curb, and whether the driveway is straight enough for the truck to back into. On Vista's hillside streets that description decides whether the truck parks at the door or the crew carries from the nearest flat stretch, and the carry distance is what moves an estimate from the low end of its range toward the high end.

Vista Transit Center and the SPRINTER

Vista has its own stop on the SPRINTER, the North County Transit District rail line that runs between Oceanside and Escondido, and the Vista Transit Center is also served by BREEZE bus routes 302, 332, 334, 347, 350, 353, 358, 359 and 445. For a household moving in with one car, that is the answer to the move-day question of how the second driver gets from the old address to the new one without a second vehicle.

It also settles a smaller decision: what to do with the car that is not carrying anything. If the old address and the new one are both near a SPRINTER stop, one person can ride while the other drives the packed car behind the truck, and no one is left waiting for a return trip. Tell us at booking if a car will be staying in the driveway or at the curb on move day, so the crew can plan where the truck stands without moving vehicles around on your clock.

Moving to or from Vista?
Questions Answered

Discount Movers charges $119/hr cash, or $129/hr by card, for a 2-person crew in Vista. Most 2-3 bedroom moves take 4-7 hours with three movers. Includes truck, blankets, and 25 free boxes.
Yes. We serve Shadowridge, Vista Village, Buena Creek, Rancho Minerva, Foothill, and all Vista communities.
Absolutely. We handle moves from Vista to any San Diego city, and long distance moves to Los Angeles, Orange County, and throughout California.
Yes. All Vista neighborhoods are in our regular service area including Shadowridge, Buena Creek, Rancho Minerva, and all surrounding communities.
No. On an hourly local move California uses double drive time: the drive between your old address and your new one is counted twice and billed at your hourly rate, and the trips our truck makes to and from the Miramar yard appear nowhere on the bill. How far our yard sits from you does not change what you pay. Our double drive time page works it through at our real rate.
Rarely a problem, always a plan: steep driveways get checked in advance, and the truck stages where gravity and clearance agree.
Yes. Vista’s business parks are regular commercial territory for us, tanks and taprooms excepted, offices and warehouses included.
File the request with the Vista Irrigation District during the week before your move, not on the day. The district schedules a change for the next business day when the request arrives before 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, and within 48 hours when it arrives after 4:30 pm. It does not back-date changes and does not process same-day, weekend, or holiday requests. The district's customer service line is (760) 597-3100, Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
EDCO collects trash, recycling, and organics in the city of Vista under contract with the city, and new residents start service through the start-or-stop option on EDCO's City of Vista site. Single-family service is a weekly pickup with a cart for trash.
Yes, EDCO offers a bulky item pickup for large items generated inside your Vista home. You schedule it with EDCO, put the item at the curb or the end of your driveway on the appointed day, and a separate bulky-item truck collects it. Arranging that pickup for the days before the move keeps unwanted furniture off the truck and off your hourly bill.
The City of Vista's Code Enforcement division enforces State and City parking regulations and processes all parking citations issued within the city, and it lists 760-639-1641 as its contact number. Call that office with questions about a curb or a citation. Our crew is responsible for where the moving truck stands, and a clear description of the open curb space in front of your home lets us plan that before we arrive.

Vista Moves: Hills, Craft & Value

Vista’s rolling inland hills hold some of North County’s best housing value: established neighborhoods off Vista Village, newer developments toward Shadowridge, and semi-rural pockets where driveways run long and steep. Hill access is the recurring note: we check grades the way coastal crews check parking.

The city’s business parks (home to the county’s famous craft-brewing cluster) keep commercial moves in the mix, while Shadowridge’s planned streets make family moves straightforward. Inland heat says summer moves start early.

MOVING IN VISTA: GOOD TO KNOW

  • For temporary no-parking signs or truck restrictions, check with the city's public works or traffic division a week ahead. Rules vary by city and our crew will work with whatever access you can arrange.
  • Vista's hillside neighborhoods mean long or steep driveways. Tell us about yours and we'll plan truck position and carry.
  • Older ranch homes here usually offer easy single-level load-outs.
