Which Community, And Why It Changes The Day
Seacrest Village Encinitas and Silverado Encinitas share Saxony Road but are different moves. Seacrest Village is a full continuum of care campus, from independent living through skilled nursing. The first question there is where the apartment sits and how a truck reaches it. Silverado is memory care only, on a secured campus, so access and the apartment layout are agreed in advance. Belmont Village Cardiff by the Sea, on the hillside along Manchester Avenue, runs from independent living through memory care. Olivenhain Guest Home is a residential care home at house scale. That move is a house move: a driveway, a front door, often a crew of two.
Name the community when you call and the office works through a short list. Which day and move-in window are open. Where the truck can stand, and whether there is a loading door or an elevator to reserve. Who at the community receives the certificate of insurance. For a house on a sloped Olivenhain drive, the questions turn to the gate, the turning room and whether a smaller truck should shuttle. None of this is guessed from a website. A short call to the move-in desk settles it a week ahead. The plan is then read back to the family before the date is locked.
Where The Rest Of It Goes
A Leucadia cottage or an Olivenhain hillside house holds far more than a new apartment will take. What does not fit has three places to go, and naming them before move day is most of the work. Some pieces go to children and grandchildren, each with its own address and its own delivery date. Some go into storage, which starts at $205 a month. The storage is our own, so there is no second company to book. The rest is donated or hauled away. The estimator notes that load on the written estimate so nobody is surprised by it later.
The sorting belongs to the family, and the crew keeps out of it. A mover judging what is worth keeping, in a hallway with a truck at the curb, makes mistakes a daughter discovers months later. So the ask is simple. Walk the house with the estimator and tag each piece: community, family, storage, or gone for good. Colored tape works, and so does a list on the fridge. On the day, the crew carries what is tagged to where it is tagged, and leaves the decisions where they were made.
The Certificate Of Insurance And The Booked Window
Two pieces of paper decide whether an Encinitas move-in starts on time. The first is a certificate of insurance made out to the community. Most of the larger campuses ask to see it before a crew comes through the door. The second is the move-in window itself, a booked stretch of a particular day rather than whenever the truck happens to arrive. Neither gets sorted out on move morning, with a loaded truck outside and a resident waiting in the lobby. Both are ordinary a week ahead, which is why the office raises them on the first call.
The certificate costs the family nothing; the office issues it and sends it to whoever the community names. The window is booked directly with the community's move-in desk.
