What size storage unit does a golf cart need? +
A standard 2-passenger cart (about 8 ft long) fits a 10×10 unit tightly and a 10×15 comfortably with walk-around room. A 4-passenger needs the 10×15; a 6-passenger or lifted cart usually needs a 10×20. Drive-up ground-floor access matters more than raw size — interior corridor units don’t work.
Should I charge the batteries before storage? +
Yes. Lead-acid packs go in fully charged — they self-discharge 3–5% a month and sulfate if left low. Lithium packs prefer 50–80% charge with the main disconnect off. Either way, plan a mid-season top-up for holds beyond about three months; details in our

Is climate-controlled storage necessary for a golf cart? +
In coastal San Diego, usually not — our mild climate is easy on batteries and bodywork, and drive-up standard units are fine for most carts. Inland and desert storage (Borrego Springs summers reach 110°F+) is harder on batteries; there, shade, ventilation, and a charged battery matter more than refrigerated air.
