Gate access has to be arranged before the day
Our crews need to be sponsored or escorted according to current base policy. That is arranged ahead of the date under current base access policy, not at the gate at eight in the morning.
Weight tickets are the paperwork that pays you
A personally procured move reimburses against certified weight. Empty and loaded tickets from a certified scale are what substantiate it. We will get them and give you copies.
The I-5 corridor decides the start time
Anything crossing Oceanside between seven and nine or three and six loses real hours. Early starts are not a preference on this base, they are the difference between one day and two.
Off base is most of the work
Oceanside, Fallbrook, Vista and San Clemente carry a large share of Pendleton families. Those moves have no gate at all and often run faster than an on base move of the same size.

We work the whole North County corridor around the base. Oceanside carries the largest share of off base Pendleton families, with a mix of older single story rentals and newer apartment stock near the 76. Fallbrook sits inland and rural, where driveways are long, gates are common and a full size truck sometimes cannot reach the door without a shuttle. Vista and San Marcos hold a lot of family housing at better value, and the streets are straightforward. San Clemente to the north is technically Orange County but functionally Pendleton, and the coastal streets there are narrow and permit sensitive. Carlsbad picks up officers and longer tours. Getting Our Truck Through The Gate
Camp Pendleton is a secure installation, and everyone entering needs authorized access and valid identification, with the exact requirement depending on the purpose of the visit and who is sponsoring it. The base's Base Access page lists the credentials it accepts: a CAC or USID card, a government PIV credential authenticated in DBIDS, a TWIC card with a valid bill of lading, or a sponsored visitor pass approved by Camp Pendleton. A moving crew falls under one of the last two, and which one applies on your date is something we settle with you at booking, not at the gate.
For sponsored visitors, the base asks that people pre-enroll at dbids-global.dmdc.mil/enroll and then report to the Visitor Center, Building 20255T, to pick up the pass. The Visitor Center's number is (760) 763-8435. Only military ID card holders can escort someone onto the base, which means the sponsorship comes from your household, the service member or a dependent with a valid ID, not from us. We give you the crew names in advance so the enrollment can be done before the move date rather than the morning of.
The reason we push on this before the date is simple. Local moves are billed by the hour with a three-hour minimum, so a crew waiting at a gate for a pass is time on your bill. The base also limits escorting to ID card holders, so if the service member is already at the next duty station or deployed, tell us early. The pass can then be arranged through the spouse or dependent who is staying behind with a valid ID, and the crew arrives with the paperwork already in place.
Which Housing Area Are You In
The base's School Liaison Office lists the on-base family housing areas as De Luz, O'Neill, Serra Mesa and San Luis Rey, along with San Onofre I, II and III and San Mateo Point. These areas are spread across the base, so naming the area and the street when you call lets us plan which gate the truck uses, where it can stand at the house, and how long the crew spends inside the fence line before the first box moves. It also tells us whether a full size truck reaches the door or a smaller shuttle is needed.
For families weighing on-base against off-base housing, the same list notes which schools serve each area. De Luz, O'Neill, Serra Mesa and San Luis Rey fall under Fallbrook schools, and the San Onofre areas are listed separately. That matters if you are moving mid-year with school-age children, because the housing area you accept sets the school, not the base as a whole. The list is dated May 2018, so confirm current boundaries with the School Liaison Office before you decide.

If your report date and your housing date do not match, that is the point where storage at our Miramar facility comes into the plan. We hold the load there and deliver when the house is ready, on a date you set.
What The PPM Pays And What It Needs
Military OneSource states that the PPM monetary allowance increased from 95% to 100% of the estimated cost the government would have paid a moving company, and that the figure includes a fuel surcharge, debris removal, third party service and payment of accessorial fees. That estimate is the ceiling your reimbursement is measured against, so the weight the government expected to move and the certified weight you actually moved are what set the payout. Our invoice is a receipt against that allowance, not a separate calculation, and our written price tells you before load day how the two compare.
The same guidance says to obtain empty and full weight tickets from a certified weigh station for each segment of the move, based on your service branch's requirements. Each segment matters when the move is split, for example a load into storage now and a delivery to the new house later, because each leg needs its own pair of tickets. We weigh for every segment we run. If you are doing a partial PPM alongside a government shipment, tell us at booking so the tickets cover only the goods we carry and nothing that the other carrier is moving.
When you file, the transportation office will want copies of the weight tickets, your vehicle registration, moving receipts and a few other documents. Keep our written price and the final paid invoice with the tickets. At Camp Pendleton the office is the Distribution Management Office, which the base notes was formerly known as Traffic. Summer is the Marine Corps' peak season for permanent change of station moves, and the DMO has published that it experiences delays in that period, so booking the DMO appointment and the crew early protects both dates.
