Military & PCS Moves

Coronado & North Island
Movers

Coronado,
Straight Answer

Coronado is an island reached two ways, and both of them shape a move. The bridge is fast but it has restrictions that matter to a loaded truck, and the Silver Strand is the alternative when it does not work. Once you are across, the village streets are narrow, parking is genuinely scarce, and many of the older homes have no driveway at all. So a Coronado move is planned around truck placement more than anything else. We serve both NAB Coronado and NAS North Island, we support personally procured moves, and we are not a contracted government carrier.

Access is by bridge or Strand and that is a real decision

Bridge restrictions and wind advisories affect high sided vehicles. The Silver Strand adds time but avoids the issue. We plan the approach rather than discovering it.

Truck placement is the whole game in the village

Narrow streets, scarce parking and homes without driveways. A parking permit or an early start is often what makes a move possible, and a shuttle is sometimes the honest answer.

Two installations, different access

NAB Coronado at the south end and NAS North Island at the north are separate, with their own access arrangements. We confirm which one before quoting.

Weight tickets substantiate the claim

Certified empty and loaded weights, copies to you for your PPM paperwork.

Summer traffic is a scheduling factor

Coronado in July is a tourist island. Early starts are worth more here than almost anywhere else in the county.

What A Coronado
Move Covers

NAB Coronado

Base housing at the south end, quoted to the address with access arranged in advance.

NAS North Island

The north end air station, with its own access arrangements confirmed before the date.

Coronado village

Older homes and condos off base, where street parking and narrow access drive the plan.

Imperial Beach and the Strand

South of the island, straightforward suburban and coastal properties.

PCS out of the area

Long distance on our own trucks and crews.

Storage and deployment holds

Short and long term storage, including holds through a deployment.

A Coronado Move,
In Order

1

Confirm which installation and which address

NAB and North Island are separate. Off base village addresses need a parking conversation before anything else.

2

Plan the crossing

Bridge or Silver Strand, decided on the vehicle and the conditions rather than assumed.

3

Sort parking or a permit

For village addresses this is the step that decides whether the crew carries fifteen feet or a hundred and fifty.

4

Weigh empty, load early

Certified scale first, then an early start ahead of the island traffic, particularly in summer.

5

Weigh loaded and hand over copies

Second certified ticket, copies to you, then delivery and placement.

Coronado
And The Strand

Coronado is a small island with real access constraints and it rewards planning. The village holds a mix of historic homes, many without driveways, and condo buildings that often have their own move in rules and elevator reservations. Streets near the beach are narrow and parking is contested most of the year, badly so in summer. The Cays at the south end are newer with better access and often a gated entrance to arrange. Along the Silver Strand the properties open up and loading is straightforward. Imperial Beach just south picks up a lot of families who want the coast without the island prices, and it is an easier place to work. We are a licensed California carrier, CAL-T #201759 and US DOT #4372335, family owned in San Diego since 1997.

Questions

Can a full size truck get to my house in the village?+
Sometimes, and sometimes not. Coronado has narrow streets, scarce parking and homes with no driveway. Send us photographs of the street and the frontage and we will tell you honestly whether we need a permit, an early start, or a shuttle from a smaller vehicle.
Do you go over the bridge or around the Strand?+
Whichever suits the vehicle and the day. The bridge is quicker but has restrictions that affect high sided vehicles, and wind advisories happen. The Strand takes longer and avoids the question. We decide it in advance rather than at the toll plaza.
Do you serve both NAB Coronado and North Island?+
Yes, both. They are separate installations with their own access arrangements, so we confirm which one you are at before quoting rather than assuming.
Do you handle PPM moves?+
Yes. We pack and haul, weigh empty and loaded at a certified scale, and give you copies of both tickets for your claim. Filing is done by you through your transportation office.
Are you contracted with the Navy?+
No. We are a licensed California household goods carrier hired directly by families. Government channel moves go to approved transportation service providers, which is a separate program we are not part of.
Is summer harder to schedule?+
Yes. Coronado in summer is a tourist island on top of a PCS season, so parking and traffic are both worse. Book early and expect an early start.
