Northern Virginia is functionally Washington, DC — Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax — dense, permit-minded, and delivered on Beltway timing; Richmond (~2,660 miles) is the manageable mid-state capital; and Hampton Roads (~2,740–2,760 to Norfolk and Virginia Beach) is Navy country, home to the world’s largest naval base. Those three destinations behave so differently that “moving to Virginia” is the least specific sentence a customer can say to us — the ZIP code sets the plan.
