Eastlake Movers

The gate code and the association calendar come before the couch in Chula Vista's master planned east.

By the Discount Movers Team · Updated August 2026 · CAL-T #201759 issued by the BHGS · US DOT #4372335 · BBB A+ Rated

What Does A Move
In Eastlake Cost?

Discount Movers charges $119 an hour cash for two movers and a truck in Eastlake, on our own published ladder that runs to $269 an hour cash for five movers. The three hour minimum is $357, there is a flat $75 fuel fee, and there is no deposit, ever.

What moves the number here is the gate comes before the truck: coded entries, call boxes and staffed gates are normal across the gated sections here, and every one of them needs arranging before moving day rather than at the keypad. The full rate card is one page, and the instant estimate returns a crew size and an hourly rate in about 30 seconds.

Eastlake Homes
& Access

Gates and homeowners associations shape an Eastlake move before any furniture does. The community was master planned through the 1990s and 2000s around its lakes, golf and parks, and many sections sit behind coded or staffed entries with association expectations about where a truck stands and for how long. Once you are inside, the streets are wide and the driveways are real, so the physical job is friendly. The planning job is confirming access before the day, and that part is ours.

The gate comes before the truck

Coded entries, call boxes and staffed gates are normal across the gated sections here, and every one of them needs arranging before moving day rather than at the keypad. We confirm who lets the crew in, whether a vendor entrance applies, and how a 26 foot truck gets through, because a crew idling outside a gate is the most expensive way to start a morning.

Associations with opinions about trucks

Most of Eastlake sits under a homeowners association, and associations here commonly care about where a moving truck stands, for how long, and sometimes on which days. We do not guess at any of it. We ask you to check with yours when you book, and then we plan the truck position and the hours around whatever answer comes back from them.

Two story homes, interior stairs

The 1990s and 2000s stock is mostly two story with the bedrooms upstairs, so nearly everything heavy travels a staircase. That changes crew size more than it changes hours: three or four movers keep a stair house moving at the pace a single story home gets from two. We size the crew to the floor plan, not just the square footage.

Twenty five years of garage

Eastlake's first families have been in place since the 1990s, and their two and three car garages show it. Holiday storage, sports equipment, tools and the overflow of two decades routinely double what the rooms alone suggest. It is the most common reason an Eastlake estimate runs long, so we ask about the garage directly instead of letting it surprise everyone on the day.

Olympic Parkway, Telegraph Canyon and the 125

Eastern Chula Vista funnels onto a handful of corridors, and they load up hard at school and commute hours. The 125 toll road is the fast way out when the surface streets stack. An early start clears the neighborhood before the corridors do their worst, which matters on an hourly job, and it is what we recommend for almost every Eastlake move.

Every Eastlake address is different. Send us a photo of the street and the entrance and we will tell you what the access means for your crew size, your carry and your estimate.

Rancho Janal, Then A Master Plan

The ground under Eastlake was part of Rancho Janal, a Mexican era land grant associated with Jose Antonio Estudillo. None of that survives in anything you will park a truck next to today, but it is the reason eastern Chula Vista stayed open country long after the western half of the city had filled in. Eastlake exists because Chula Vista expanded east of I-805, annexing territory that opened the way for Eastlake, Rancho del Rey and Otay Ranch. The EastLake Development Company began the master plan, and the first villages went up from the mid 1980s onward.

The useful part of that history for a moving crew is that Eastlake is not one vintage of house. The earliest villages have been occupied for decades and later sections were finished well after them, so two addresses that both say Eastlake can mean two different floor plans, two different driveway approaches and two different truck positions. When you call us, the village name tells our estimator more than the square footage does. We ask which village first, then how many bedrooms.

Your Address Is City Of Chula Vista, Not County

Eastlake sits entirely within the incorporated City of Chula Vista. The Chula Vista Municipal Code applies to your street, Chula Vista Police and Chula Vista Fire are your responding agencies, and anything a buyer, a landlord or an escrow officer needs verified about the property runs through the city rather than through San Diego County. Bonita and Sunnyside, to the west and northwest, are unincorporated San Diego County, which is why people who have lived on both sides of that boundary sometimes assume Eastlake is county territory too.

Where this touches moving day: if a question comes up about a truck standing in a public street, about on street parking, or about any permit for something out of the ordinary, the answer comes from the City of Chula Vista. Your homeowners association is a separate layer sitting on top of city rules, not a replacement for them, so an answer from one is not an answer from the other. None of this is something you need to sort out before you call us for a quote. We just want to know which set of rules we are planning inside.

How A 26 Foot Truck Gets To You From Miramar Place

Our yard is at 8775 Miramar Pl in San Diego. The routing a loaded truck takes to Eastlake is I-805 south to SR-54 east, then SR-125 south, exiting at Otay Lakes Road or Olympic Parkway. When the 805 is stacked, the fallback is I-5 to SR-54, which picks up the same 125 leg further along. We do not publish a drive time for that run because the corridor decides it, not us, and a number printed on a web page is not a number you can hold anyone to.

The part that matters on an hourly job is where the truck enters the neighborhood. We come in off the 125 interchanges rather than working east up Telegraph Canyon Road through the older Chula Vista grid. That grid is narrower, carries more signals and has more cars parked hard against the curb than a 26 foot box wants to negotiate with a full load behind it. If your street is one we have not worked before, tell us which interchange you use yourself, and we will build the approach from there instead of guessing.

Water Is Otay, Not Sweetwater

Eastlake water and recycled water come from Otay Water District. Sweetwater Authority serves western Chula Vista. People moving into Eastlake from the western side of the city, or from elsewhere in the South Bay, routinely call Sweetwater to start service and are told they have reached the wrong agency. That costs a day at exactly the point in a move where a day is the thing you have least of, so put Otay Water District on the list and cross Sweetwater off it.

Recycled water is worth its own line because Eastlake has it. By California convention recycled water runs in purple marked pipe, so a purple valve box or a purple sprinkler head on a property here is the recycled system doing its job rather than a plumbing fault a new owner needs to chase. Sewer billing is a separate question and, for most of Chula Vista, is handled by the city rather than by Otay. Treat water and sewer as two calls, not one.

Republic Services, SDG&E, And Where The Discards Go

Republic Services is the waste and recycling hauler for Chula Vista, and it operates the Otay Landfill at 1700 Maxwell Road. Electricity and natural gas are San Diego Gas and Electric. Between those two, Otay Water District, and the city for sewer, you have covered essentially every service transfer call an Eastlake household needs to make.

Discards are their own logistics problem and they are the thing most often left unplanned. What goes out on your regular Republic collection day is limited to what the cart holds, and anything past that needs a different answer. We can quote junk removal alongside the move so the leftovers leave the same day the furniture does rather than sitting in the garage waiting for the next owner to deal with. If you would rather run it yourself, Maxwell Road is the destination.

Seventh Grade Is Where The District Changes

Eastlake is served by two separate districts. Chula Vista Elementary School District covers grades K through 6, and Sweetwater Union High School District takes over at grade 7. Note the year carefully: the handoff is seventh grade, not ninth. Families arriving from areas where a single unified district carries a child from kindergarten through graduation get caught by that, and it means two sets of enrollment paperwork rather than one. Salt Creek Elementary and Olympic View Elementary are Chula Vista Elementary School District schools serving the Eastlake area.

On the secondary side, Eastlake Middle School is on Duncan Ranch Road and covers grades 7 and 8. Eastlake High School, 1120 Eastlake Parkway, Chula Vista, is grades 9 through 12 under Sweetwater Union. Those two get confused constantly because both carry the community name, one on Eastlake Parkway and one on Duncan Ranch Road, and a wrong street means a wrong drop off on the first morning. Olympian High School, on Magdalena Avenue in Chula Vista, is the other Sweetwater Union high school serving the city's eastern communities, and it sits in Otay Ranch rather than in Eastlake itself. If your move date has any flexibility in it, call both districts about enrollment timing before you fix the date with us.

The Course Is Enagic Golf Club Now

The course that Eastlake Greens is built around now operates as Enagic Golf Club at Eastlake, 2375 Clubhouse Drive, Chula Vista 91915, and it is open to the public. For years it was known as Eastlake Country Club, and that older name still shows up on directory listings, on printed material and in ordinary conversation around the community. If a page written in 2026 still calls it the country club, that page has not been touched in a long time.

It matters for a move in one flat, practical way, and that way is addresses. A crew, an estimator or a delivery told to meet somebody at the country club is looking for a name that nothing is signed with anymore. Give the street address instead. For homes on the fairway side of Eastlake Greens, the working side of the job is the street side in any case, since the course side has no vehicle access a moving truck would ever use.

Eastlake Addresses That Get Mixed Up

A handful of addresses in and around Eastlake sound close enough to each other to send someone to the wrong place. Eastlake Parkway carries the high school at 1120; Duncan Ranch Road carries the middle school. Otay Lakes Road runs from Southwestern College at 900 out past EastLake Village Marketplace at 2275, so the street name on its own does not locate anything. Clubhouse Drive at 2375 is the golf club. Maxwell Road at 1700 is the landfill.

Three more are worth flagging because they are not in Eastlake at all. Otay Ranch Town Center at 2015 Birch Road and Olympian High School on Magdalena Avenue are Otay Ranch, and Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center at 751 Medical Center Court carries a 91911 zip belonging to western Chula Vista. When we confirm a booking we read the full address back to you, number, street and zip, because the community names in this part of the city overlap in conversation more than they do on a map.

Southwestern College Was Here First

Southwestern College, 900 Otay Lakes Road, Chula Vista, is the area's community college. It opened in 1961 and its Otay Lakes Road campus opened for classes in 1964, which is well before Eastlake was built, on the same corridor Eastlake now uses every day. The college did not arrive to serve the master plan. The master plan grew up alongside a road the college was already on, which is why the campus address sits at the low end of Otay Lakes Road numbering and the Eastlake shopping addresses sit far above it.

Moves tied to the campus are small and tied to a calendar: a one bedroom, a room of furniture, a load in or out at the start or end of a term, often on short notice. That size of job runs on the same published ladder as everything else. Three movers is $169 an hour cash with a three hour minimum of $507, and there is no deposit to hold a date, which is the part that matters when the date is not fully yours to choose.

The 24 Hour ER Is West, Not Off The 125

Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, 751 Medical Center Court, Chula Vista 91911, runs a 24 hour emergency room, and the main number is 619-502-5800. From Eastlake it is reached west along the Telegraph Canyon and East H corridor rather than off the 125. That is the opposite of the instinct most residents build up, because the 125 is the road you learn to use for nearly everything else out here, and it is not the road for this.

We hand that to every Eastlake household we move, not because moving day is dangerous but because it is the one day of the year when the front door stands open for hours with a grandparent or a small child somewhere behind it. Our crew carries the load and we would rather you did not help. If you are going to anyway, that address belongs on the refrigerator for the day. Fire and police are Chula Vista's, since you are inside the city.

Marketplace, Village Walk, Town Center: Which Is Which

EastLake Village Marketplace on Otay Lakes Road is the community's main shopping center, with a second center across the corridor. Village Walk at EastLake, on EastLake Parkway, is where the Trader Joe's is, not the Marketplace. People mix those two up. Otay Ranch Town Center, 2015 Birch Road, Chula Vista, is the nearest regional open air mall, and it is in Otay Ranch rather than in Eastlake.

On an hourly job this is not trivia. The mid move errand for something nobody thought about until the truck was half loaded is a normal event, and a round trip to the wrong center is time on the clock. It also matters at the quoting stage, because the three names get used loosely as shorthand for a general part of eastern Chula Vista. We quote the address you give us, not the label, so give us the number and the street.

Moving Out Of Eastlake, Not Just Around It

A large share of Eastlake moves stay inside Chula Vista: one village to another, or east side to Otay Ranch. Those run on the local hourly ladder. Two movers and a truck is $119 an hour cash, three is $169, four is $219, five is $269, and each mover beyond that is $50 an hour more. A large Eastlake floor plan occasionally needs a second truck, which adds $150 plus a second $75 fuel charge, and we say so when we quote rather than after the tailgate is closed.

Moves that leave the area work on a different structure entirely. Long distance is one flat rate, agreed in writing before we load a single item, with no deposit at any stage. Anything within 200 miles, which includes Los Angeles, is delivered the same day. Past that we cover 550 miles a day, counting from the day after we load rather than from load day itself. What we do not do is international shipping, container or POD transport, or vehicle transport. If your move includes any of those, you will need a second company for that piece, and we will tell you that on the first call instead of the last one.

What Our Crews Plan For Here

Truck enters off SR-125 at Otay Lakes Road or Olympic Parkway. We do not work a 26 foot truck east up Telegraph Canyon Road through the older grid unless there is a reason to.
Fallback routing when I-805 is stacked: I-5 south to SR-54 east, picking up SR-125 south further along.
The golf club is Enagic Golf Club at Eastlake, 2375 Clubhouse Drive, Chula Vista 91915. Nothing at that address is signed Eastlake Country Club anymore, so give the street address, not the old name.
Eastlake Middle School is on Duncan Ranch Road. Eastlake High School is at 1120 Eastlake Parkway. Two different streets, two different schools, and a common first morning mistake.
Otay Lakes Road runs from Southwestern College at 900 out past EastLake Village Marketplace at 2275. The street name alone will not locate an address on it.
Trader Joe's is at Village Walk at EastLake on EastLake Parkway, not at the Marketplace.
2015 Birch Road and Magdalena Avenue are Otay Ranch addresses, not Eastlake, even when the job is booked under the Eastlake name.
751 Medical Center Court is a 91911 address in western Chula Vista. Do not read a 91911 destination as an east side address.
Water and recycled water transfer is Otay Water District. Sweetwater Authority serves western Chula Vista and cannot open an Eastlake account.
Bulk discards go to the Otay Landfill, 1700 Maxwell Road. The Republic Services cart handles only what fits in the cart.
Your street is City of Chula Vista, so street and parking questions go to the city. Bonita, to the west, is unincorporated county and answers to a different agency.

Eastlake Moving
Questions

How do gated Eastlake communities handle a moving truck?+
Access runs through you rather than us: gates need a code, a guest list entry or a call box contact arranged before the day. When you book we confirm exactly how the crew and the truck get in, including any vendor entrance, so nobody is parked outside a gate on billable time.
Should I tell my HOA before moving day?+
Yes, and early. Associations in Eastlake commonly have expectations about truck parking, hours and sometimes routes through the community, and they vary section to section. We will work inside whatever your association requires, but only you can find out what that is, so make it one of your first calls after booking.
What time should an Eastlake move start?+
Early. Olympic Parkway, Telegraph Canyon Road and East H Street all stack at school drop off and commute hours, and the 125 only helps once you reach it. A morning start gets the truck positioned before the corridors load up and usually finishes the local driving before the afternoon peak arrives.
My house is two stories. Does that cost more?+
It changes the crew more than the price structure. Our rates run from $119 per hour cash for two movers up to $269 for five, and on a stair house a third or fourth mover typically finishes enough sooner that the total lands close to even. We size the crew to the floor plan when we quote.
Do I transfer water service with Otay Water District or Sweetwater Authority?+
Otay Water District. Eastlake water and recycled water come from Otay. Sweetwater Authority serves western Chula Vista, so an Eastlake resident who calls Sweetwater is calling the wrong agency and will be told so after the hold. Sewer is billed separately and for most of Chula Vista is handled by the city rather than by Otay, so plan on two calls. Electricity and gas are San Diego Gas and Electric, and trash and recycling are Republic Services.
Is Eastlake in the City of Chula Vista or in unincorporated San Diego County?+
Entirely within the incorporated City of Chula Vista. The Chula Vista Municipal Code applies, and Chula Vista Police and Chula Vista Fire are the responding agencies. Bonita and Sunnyside, to the west and northwest, are unincorporated San Diego County, which is where the confusion usually comes from. Anything about a truck in a public street or an unusual permit is a city question, and your homeowners association sits on top of city rules rather than in place of them.
My child is starting seventh grade. Does the school district change when we move here?+
Eastlake is served by two districts, and the handoff is at seventh grade rather than ninth. Chula Vista Elementary School District covers grades K through 6, including Salt Creek Elementary and Olympic View Elementary. Sweetwater Union High School District takes over at grade 7, which is Eastlake Middle School on Duncan Ranch Road for grades 7 and 8, then Eastlake High School at 1120 Eastlake Parkway for grades 9 through 12. Two districts means two sets of paperwork, so call both before you lock a move date.
What route does your truck take from your yard to Eastlake?+
From 8775 Miramar Pl the routing is I-805 south to SR-54 east, then SR-125 south, exiting at Otay Lakes Road or Olympic Parkway. When the 805 is stacked we take I-5 to SR-54 and pick up the same 125 leg. We enter the neighborhood from the 125 interchanges rather than working east up Telegraph Canyon Road, because the older grid west of there is narrower and busier than a 26 foot truck wants with a full load behind it.
Where is the nearest 24 hour emergency room to Eastlake?+
Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, 751 Medical Center Court, Chula Vista 91911, runs a 24 hour emergency room. The main number is 619-502-5800. From Eastlake it is reached west along the Telegraph Canyon and East H corridor rather than off the 125, which surprises people who have learned to use the toll road for everything else out here. Worth writing down for moving day even though our crew does the carrying.
Is the golf course still called Eastlake Country Club?+
No. It now operates as Enagic Golf Club at Eastlake, 2375 Clubhouse Drive, Chula Vista 91915, and it is open to the public. The old name still circulates in conversation and on stale listings, which is why we ask for a street address rather than a landmark name when we set a meeting point. For homes backing the fairways in Eastlake Greens, the crew works the street side regardless, since the course side has no vehicle access we would use.
We are moving from Eastlake to Otay Ranch. Is that a local move?+
Yes, and both ends are inside the City of Chula Vista, so one set of municipal rules covers the whole job. It runs on the local hourly ladder: $119 an hour cash for two movers, $169 for three, $219 for four, $269 for five, plus the flat $75 fuel fee, with no deposit. Worth noting that Otay Ranch Town Center at 2015 Birch Road, Olympian High School on Magdalena Avenue and Wolf Canyon are Otay Ranch, not Eastlake, so give us the destination address rather than the community name.
Do I pay anything extra because the crew uses the 125?+
Route choice is ours to make and it is not something we ask you to price out. What we publish is the hourly rate for your crew size, from $119 for two movers to $269 for five, plus $50 an hour for each mover beyond that, and one flat $75 fuel fee. If the load needs a second truck, that is $150 plus a second $75 fuel charge, and we tell you before the day. Anything outside that list goes in writing before we load, never onto an invoice afterward. There is no deposit at any point.
