Castle Park Movers

Modest post-war homes and a heavy rental mix make the older side of Chula Vista a different job from the master planned east.

By the Discount Movers Team · Updated August 2026 · CAL-T #201759 issued by the BHGS · US DOT #4372335 · BBB A+ Rated

What Does A Move
In Castle Park Cost?

Discount Movers charges $119 an hour cash for two movers and a truck in Castle Park, on our own published ladder that runs to $269 an hour cash for five movers. The three hour minimum is $357, there is a flat $75 fuel fee, and there is no deposit, ever.

What moves the number here is post-war homes with post-war doorways: most of the housing here went up in the 1950s and 1960s, single story on small lots, and the doorways, hallways and porch steps are sized to that era. The full rate card is one page, and the instant estimate returns a crew size and an hourly rate in about 30 seconds.

Castle Park Homes
& Access

Most of Castle Park predates the master plans to its east, and the move shows it. The stock is largely modest post-war single story homes on small lots, with short driveways, older doorways and additions built over the decades. A large share of residents rent, so apartment and small complex moves with property managers in the loop are as common as house moves. Sunbow, the newer planned section to the southeast, is a different job, and we plan it differently.

Post-war homes with post-war doorways

Most of the housing here went up in the 1950s and 1960s, single story on small lots, and the doorways, hallways and porch steps are sized to that era. Modern sofas and king bedroom sets often need disassembly that a newer house would not require. We bring the tools, measure the tight turns and plan them instead of forcing furniture through them.

More renters than owners

A large share of Castle Park is rental housing, from single homes to small complexes, which adds a landlord or property manager to the day. Walkthrough scheduling, key handoffs and deposit expectations all sit on the calendar alongside the truck. We keep the timeline tight so the unit is empty and ready for cleaning when the walkthrough starts.

Short frontages, full curbs

Lots are narrow and the street parking works hard, so truck position is the first problem to solve on many blocks. Parking your own cars in front of the house the night before is the cheapest move optimization there is in this neighborhood. Where the curb cannot be held, we plan the shortest legal carry from the nearest workable spot instead.

Sunbow is a different decade

Sunbow, southeast of the older grid, is 1990s and 2000s planned housing with two story homes, attached garages and association oversight. It moves like eastern Chula Vista rather than like Castle Park proper: the stairs change the crew, the garage holds the surprise volume, and the association gets a call before the truck parks anywhere.

Between the 5 and the 805

Castle Park sits between the two freeways, with Palm Avenue, L Street and Hilltop Drive tying them together, which keeps travel time short in every direction. The corridors themselves congest at commute and school hours, so we schedule the loaded driving outside those windows and use the freeway access as the genuine advantage it is here.

Every Castle Park address is different. Send us a photo of the street and the entrance and we will tell you what the access means for your crew size, your carry and your estimate.

Two School Districts, One Castle Park Address

Castle Park sits under two school districts at once. Chula Vista Elementary School District runs the K-6 campuses and Sweetwater Union High School District runs grades 7 through 12. Families arriving from counties where a single district covers the whole span tend to discover the split while filling in enrollment forms in a half unpacked kitchen.

The consequence shows up when you are choosing between two houses. A move inside Chula Vista can change your elementary attendance area while leaving the high school alone, or the reverse. Those are two questions with two answers. If a move changes your attendance area partway through the year, confirm the current transfer procedure with CVESD directly before you commit to dates. Enrollment rules are the district's to state, not ours. We will hold the moving date that fits whatever they tell you.

Castle Park High On Hilltop Drive, Castle Park Middle On Quintard

Castle Park High School stands at 1395 Hilltop Drive, Chula Vista 91911, grades 9 through 12, part of Sweetwater Union High School District. It opened in 1963, the same building era as the houses around it, and the Trojans name turns up on enough garage doors here that crews stop noticing it. Castle Park Middle School is at 160 Quintard Street in the same ZIP, grades 7 and 8, and it is operated by Sweetwater rather than by the elementary district, which catches out parents transferring in from other counties.

Both addresses matter to the truck as much as to the paperwork. Hilltop Drive and Quintard Street take on pickup and dropoff traffic at fixed points in the day, and a loaded truck at either curb is a wide obstacle when the bell goes. We set the start time so the loading window and the release window do not land on top of each other.

The K-6 Campuses Around The Grid

Castle Park Elementary School is a Chula Vista Elementary School District K-6 campus. Loma Verde Elementary on Loma Lane, Otay Elementary on Albany Avenue and Lauderbach Elementary on Palomar Street are the other CVESD K-6 schools in and around the area, and between them they account for much of the morning curb pressure on this side of Chula Vista.

Tell us which of those streets you are near when you book. How a curb behaves on a school street at the morning bell is not how the same curb behaves mid morning, and that decides whether we stage in front of your door or walk the first loads. It also changes load order: families staying inside the same attendance area usually want the kids' rooms loaded last and unloaded first, so the beds go back together the same night.

Greg Rogers Park, The Canyon, And Your Front Steps

Greg Rogers Park at 1189 Oleander Avenue occupies a canyon, and that canyon is the plain explanation for why Castle Park is not as flat as a street map suggests. The ground falls toward it, and lots on that fall do not meet the sidewalk the way the flatter blocks do.

So we ask rather than guess: is your front door above the sidewalk or below it, and how many steps sit between. Three steps up to a porch is one kind of day. A driveway that drops away from the street with the door at the bottom is another, and it decides crew size before anything else does. A stepped entry does not change our hourly rate, it changes which rate we recommend. Two movers walking a sleeper sofa down a run of steps take longer than three handing it down, and at $119 an hour cash against $169 the third mover frequently ends the day earlier.

Loma Verde Park And Lauderbach Park As Meeting Points

Loma Verde Park at 1420 Loma Lane and Lauderbach Park at 333 Oxford Street are city parks you can name over the phone without any argument about which cross street you meant. When a block is closed for utility work, we stage there and follow you in.

They work in the other direction too. If you are moving into Castle Park and the exact address is not confirmed until keys are in hand, name one of the parks as the holding point rather than having a crew idle in front of the wrong duplex on a narrow street. The clock runs the same whether we are waiting at Lauderbach Park or standing in your driveway, so the aim is to name the meeting point and then not need it.

Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center Is In Your Own ZIP Code

Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center sits at 751 Medical Center Court, Chula Vista 91911, the same ZIP as Castle Park, and from the older grid it is a surface street run off the Telegraph Canyon Road corridor rather than a freeway leg. That is worth knowing when you are building a move around a treatment schedule instead of around a convenient Saturday.

Downsizing moves here often turn on it. A parent leaving a 1950s single story house for something smaller is usually unwilling to trade away an appointment routine that already works, and moving to another address inside 91911 lets the routine stay put while the address changes. Same hourly rates, no deposit to hold the date. If medical equipment is coming with the household goods, say so at booking so the padding and the crew are right before the truck leaves the yard.

Scripps Mercy On H Street, And The 91910 Line

Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista is at 435 H Street, Chula Vista 91910, the other full hospital serving the west side, north of Castle Park on the H Street corridor. Between it and Sharp off Telegraph Canyon Road, a household in the old grid has two hospitals reachable without getting onto the 5 or the 805 at all.

Note the ZIP change while you are updating records. Castle Park addresses are 91911 and 435 H Street is 91910, so a move of a few blocks north inside Chula Vista can put you across that line. Pharmacies, insurers and school records all key off the ZIP, and the corrections hurt less before the move than after it. If someone is being discharged the week the truck comes, tell us at booking rather than on the morning, and we will build the day around the discharge.

Broadway Is The Errand Corridor

Chula Vista Center, the enclosed mall at 555 Broadway, sits north of the Castle Park area on the Broadway corridor. Palomar Trolley Center sits south of it at Palomar Street and Broadway, with a Food 4 Less among its tenants. Between the two, Broadway is the north south spine for every errand a move generates.

Those errands are the hidden line item. More tape. The grocery run made before the kitchen gets packed. The second trip for the thing that was definitely in the hall closet. Each one made while a crew stands in the driveway is billable time bought at a moving rate, which is a poor price for tape. Do the Broadway runs the day before, or tell us at booking what materials you need and we bring them out on the truck.

When The Move-Out And Move-In Dates Do Not Meet

In a part of Chula Vista with this much rental housing, the gap between dates is usually somebody else's calendar: a turnover schedule, a walkthrough that has to clear before keys change hands, a new place not released until the middle of the following week.

When it happens, the load goes to our yard at 8775 Miramar Pl in San Diego and comes back out when the new address is ready. The run from Castle Park to the yard is the 805 north and the redelivery is the same road back. You do not need to ride along, and you do not need a second company to bridge the gap. Get the storage terms in writing before anything is loaded, the same as the estimate. No deposit on either leg.

What Actually Changes The Number On A Castle Park Day

The published ladder is $119 an hour cash for two movers and a truck, $169 for three, $219 for four and $269 for five, with $50 an hour for each mover beyond that. The three hour minimums are $357, $507, $657 and $807 in the same order. One flat $75 fuel fee. No deposit, ever, and no online payment.

A second truck adds $150 plus a second $75 fuel charge. That comes up on a two story Sunbow house with a garage that has been quietly filling since the 1990s far more often than on a single story house in the older grid. Our sales staff and our crews include Spanish speakers, so the estimate call and the day itself can both run in Spanish.

Leaving Castle Park For Another State

A move out of Castle Park to another state is one flat rate, agreed in writing before anything goes on the truck. Not a range, not a number that grows on loading day, and no deposit to hold it. We are Discount Moving and Storage LLC, CAL-T #201759 issued by the BHGS and US DOT #4372335, and both numbers are yours to check before you sign.

On transit the working rule is 550 miles a day, counted from the day after we load. Anything within 200 miles, which includes Los Angeles, is delivered the same day. What we do not do is worth saying plainly, because households here get pitched all three: no international moves, no container or POD transport, no vehicle transport.

What Our Crews Plan For Here

Castle Park High at 1395 Hilltop Drive and Castle Park Middle at 160 Quintard Street both release on a fixed bell. We set the start time so the loaded truck is not at either curb at release.
Lots on the fall toward the Greg Rogers Park canyon at 1189 Oleander Avenue often have the front door above or below sidewalk level. Count the steps before you call.
Loma Verde Park (1420 Loma Lane), Lauderbach Park (333 Oxford Street) and Greg Rogers Park (1189 Oleander Avenue) are the rendezvous points we use when a block is blocked or an address is not yet confirmed.
Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center at 751 Medical Center Court is reached from the old grid on surface streets off the Telegraph Canyon Road corridor, with no freeway leg.
Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista at 435 H Street is in 91910. Castle Park addresses are 91911, so a short move north can change your ZIP.
Broadway is the errand spine: Palomar Trolley Center at Palomar Street and Broadway with a Food 4 Less, Chula Vista Center at 555 Broadway to the north.
The storage run from a Castle Park address to our yard at 8775 Miramar Pl is the 805 north, and the redelivery is the same road back.
Tell us which elementary street you are near, Loma Lane, Albany Avenue or Palomar Street, since the morning bell changes what the curb in front of your house will allow.

Castle Park Moving
Questions

My rental has a move-out walkthrough. Can you work around it?+
Yes, and we plan for it. Tell us the walkthrough time and we build the day backward from it, so the unit is empty with time to spare for cleaning. On an hourly rate the crew size does the work here: three movers instead of two typically buys the margin the walkthrough needs.
Will my furniture fit through the doors of an older Castle Park house?+
Usually with planning, and sometimes with disassembly. Post-war doorways and hallways run narrower than modern furniture assumes. We measure the tight points, take legs and headboards off where needed, and reassemble everything at the destination. It costs minutes rather than hours when it is planned instead of discovered.
What about parking the truck on my street?+
Frontages are short and curbs fill early, so hold the space in front of your home with your own cars the night before if you can. Where the curb cannot be held we position at the nearest workable spot, keep the carry as short as the block allows, and price nothing extra for it.
Is Sunbow priced or handled differently?+
Same rates, different plan. Sunbow's two story homes and garages usually call for a three mover crew where an older single story Castle Park house runs fine with two. Our own published rates run from $119 per hour cash for two movers to $269 for five, and we recommend whichever size finishes soonest.
We are moving a few blocks inside Castle Park. Do my kids change schools?+
Possibly one of them and not the other, which is the part that catches people out. Chula Vista Elementary School District handles K-6 and Sweetwater Union High School District handles grades 7 through 12, including Castle Park Middle School at 160 Quintard Street. A short move can change the elementary attendance area while the high school stays the same, or the reverse. Confirm both with the districts directly, and we will shift the moving date to match what they tell you.
Can you schedule around the bell at Castle Park High on Hilltop Drive?+
Yes, and we would rather you ask. Castle Park High School at 1395 Hilltop Drive and Castle Park Middle School at 160 Quintard Street both concentrate traffic at fixed points in the day. If your address sits on or feeds one of those streets, we set the start time so the loaded truck is not parked at that curb when the bell goes. It costs nothing and it removes the most predictable delay on the block.
My yard drops toward the Greg Rogers Park canyon and the front door sits below the street. Is that extra?+
There is no stair charge or grade charge. The rate is hourly, so a dropped entry shows up as time rather than as a surcharge, and crew size is how you control it. Tell us how many steps and in which direction, up from the sidewalk or down from the driveway. Two movers at $119 an hour cash or three at $169 is the real decision, and on a long run of steps the third mover usually pays for itself.
We are moving a parent so they stay near Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. How do you plan that?+
Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center is at 751 Medical Center Court in 91911, the same ZIP as Castle Park, reached from the older grid on surface streets off the Telegraph Canyon Road corridor rather than by freeway. Moving to another address inside that ZIP keeps the appointment routine intact while the address changes. Give us the appointment schedule at booking and we build the day around it. If medical equipment is coming too, say so before the truck leaves the yard.
Where should the crew meet me if my street is blocked that morning?+
Name a park. Loma Verde Park at 1420 Loma Lane, Lauderbach Park at 333 Oxford Street and Greg Rogers Park at 1189 Oleander Avenue are all unambiguous over the phone in a way a cross street on a narrow residential block is not. We stage there and follow you in. The clock runs the same whether we are waiting at a park or standing in your driveway, so call the moment you know.
Our new place is not ready when the landlord wants us out. What happens to our things?+
They go to our yard at 8775 Miramar Pl in San Diego and come back out when the new address is ready. The run from Castle Park is the 805 north and the redelivery is the same road back. Get the storage terms in writing before anything is loaded, the same as the estimate. No deposit on either leg, and no second company needed to bridge a walkthrough date and a key handover date.
Do you need a second truck for a Castle Park house?+
Usually not. A single story post-war house on the older blocks generally fits one truck. Where a second truck does come up is Sunbow, where a two story floor plan plus a garage that has been accumulating since the 1990s can exceed one load. A second truck adds $150 plus a second $75 fuel charge, and we tell you at the estimate rather than at the halfway point of the day.
How far can you take us from Castle Park in a day?+
Anything within 200 miles, which includes Los Angeles, is delivered the same day we load. Beyond that the working rule is 550 miles a day, counted from the day after we load rather than from loading day. Long distance out of Castle Park is one flat rate agreed in writing before we load, with no deposit. We do not do international moves, containers or PODs, or vehicle transport, so if one of those is what you need we will say so up front.
