Coronado California is a wonderful community to live, work or play in. Coronado is located across from the beautiful downtown Gaslamp area of San Diego, and is surrounded by the bay and the ocean on all sides. Coronado homes are an eclectic mix ranging from mansions, canal homes in the Coronado Cays, "long and tall" Coronado Classics, bungalows and large estate homes in"The Village." There is the "ocean side" of the island, and the "bay side" of the island referred to by residents; only separated by 3rd and 4th street.
Overall the Coronado community has a vibrant spirit, a strong military pride, an active senior population, exellent schools for kids and and you will always see people walking and biking to the stores, shops and restaurants that fill the island everywhere you go.
Family Fun At The Coronado Recreation Center
The Coronado recreation center is located on the bay of Coronado and is one of the most beautiful community centers you can ever imagine. There is a pool for small children with a water fall feature and a lap pool for adults. Full size basketball, volleyball, classes for kids, camps
and even a community theater reside at the center. If you are moving to Coronado, the recreation center is a wonderful place to go for everyone with both senior and children programs.
Coronado Library
The Coronado library is a great place to read, check out books, or enjoy community activities and lectures. The library structure is gorgeous, is open much longer than most libraries in San Diego, and has interesting programs for small kids including story time on Tuesdays and Fridays. There are also events for teenagers and seniors a like. Free Wi Fi and computers are also available.
Coronado Schools
The Coronado school district include two elementary schools, a middle school and a award winning high school; all of which have the highest rankling for being one of the best school districts in San Diego. There is also a Fine Arts school, a football field that would amaze anyone and an Olympic pool where students have actually gone on to the Olympics from.
Coronado Concerts in the Park
There is a huge community feeling in Coronado and this is most evident at the concerts in the park held all summer in Coronado. Families bring food and drink and enjoy great music while the kids dance and run around.
Take a Ferry in Coronado and Have Dinner Downtown San Diego
The Coronado water ferry has a ferry that goes from Coronado to downtown San Diego. You can have dinner in Gaslamp, walk or bike on the waterfront, or even go see a baseball game at Petco field. You can also call 619-235-TAXI and have a water taxi pick you up anywhere in Coronado and drop you off anywhere downtown.
